Well conceived and nicely penned with clarity of thought and mind.
Not like an elephant to forget! Reminds me of those Televised debates over this side of the pond. We've just endured an Election! It's a brilliant piece of parody. I think you'll soon acquire a big fan club, Grace.
Beautifully written. I am curious as to the form in which every seventh line does not rhyme with anything. Is there a formal name for format? More More More welcome to poemhunter
I don't know if this form has a name. I was writing a parody of a famous poem for a contest, so I just followed the form that Eugene Field used. Thanks!
The seventh line rhymes with lines one and two. This is the format that Eugene Field used for his poem, The Duel, so I just followed his form. I don't know if there is a name for the form. Thanks for your comment.
It's not the person that matters. It's the principles of the party they stand for. It's about the policies that will be put in place. It's about having a Supreme Court that will uphold the Constitution. It's about saving lives, not being politically correct. It's about bringing back jobs to the inner cities and all. It's about voting against the worst choice.
I have not watched the debate yet, but I have it recorded and plan to watch it later. Right now I don't see how I can vote for either the elephant or the donkey. Neither the Trump nor the Frump!
Poem Hunter did not preserve the indentations I used in this poem to match the form in which Eugene Field wrote, The Duel. Obviously, the poem was written in 2008 about the USA presidential debate that year. As we are in another election and debate period, i thought some might enjoy a humorous look at a past one.
This debate... was simply great!
