That was obviously a most inspiring day for you- unforgettable. A skilfully shaped poem as it looks on the page.

Mirza Ghalib is perhaps the best Urdu language poet who was active until about 160 years ago. He had a great influence on the literary scene in the sub-continent that emerged after his death. Thanks a lot, Micheal.

Mirza Ghalib poured life's philosophy in his poems to deliver to one and all. I always enjoyed and appreciated some of his original poems and some translations. Poem builds the bridge from now to his time.

Some four months back I also visited his Resting place and was trying to connect with his marvellous Ghazals and sher which are unparalleled and gave him so much name, fame and glory......The sad part was the street just behind his graveyard where he used to stay, all in pathetic condition.

I am pleased to know that you have also been to his mazar a couple of months back. This is an acknowledgement of Ghalib's enormous contribution to the world of literature. However, Ghalib lived at Gali Kasim Jan, Ballimaran, Chandani Chowk, Delhi and was laid to rest at Nizamuddin West in Southern part of Delhi. The old area is not maintained properly and is in shambles. Thanks for adding so much information.

A lovely gratitude to a great poet, reminds me that during his life time he was not recognized as the greatest poet of his time. I recollect a line from Sahir Ludhianvi- Yeh basti hay murdah paraston ki basti'
