The sun lingered with a last gaze towards the placid lake
Then quickly slide over the horizon to end his reign

Some pursue their prey relentless but some just hide and wait............this is usually my method of finding a mate! ! ! so far the poem is worthy enough to go into May's showcase, though i admit i think i can tell English is not your most comfortable (with you) language. [verb tenses, and something else]. but i like the story of the 'dark side of nature'. now back to reading. Mayhem and splashes ensue then silence and no more sound......this happened when, as a boy, i came near the frog sounds at a pond's edge. Unaware that a python is hunting in the moonlight......this line almost caused me to shiver, and i'm not even a monkey! [some readers may like my 'Manu and the snake' poem? ? ] But calmly waiting hidden was one that has yet to feed The tongue flicked and both insects lie in the mouth of the toad......great nature scene! yum yum! ! Nature took her course but will bring forth more to join the fray ........the 'never-ending cycle'! very nice presentation. i suppose it was made more difficult by tight attention to the rhyme scheme. bri :) to MyPoemList
painting a picture with words; I'm a little constrained with my poor England perfection cannot be attained thanks Bri your views much appreciated
Most dangerous when the night is fresh! Nice piece of work.
With nightfall, nocturnal creatures are active. There is hunting and preying, dating and mating, sleep and rest. What all were dormant during daytime come out from hollows and crevices to forage food and satisfy their instincts! You have touched upon the whole spectrum of nightly life among animals and creatures! A stupendous write. Well over 10
An amazing depiction of nature at night and its consequences come dawn. A 10
It's a great poem, we have no answer to the question as to why the weaker is hunted by the stronger. Might is right.
Darwin calls it natural selection. Thanks for your comment
