The Cycle Song Poem by Dipy Hermonite

The Cycle Song

As I was pedaling away in the countryside far from the city air,
I realised that this was the only time that my mind was fresh and clear,
Oh the day was so fine,
That I forgot the time,
I was feeling so light and free,
Just crossing the streams and living in dreams,
Boy, this is the life for me.

Oh, in the spring time,
Or in the winter snows,
When I'm tired and sick of the noisy people,
I take out my cycle, sit on it, and away I go.

One day a friend comes to my house and ‘Dipy' he does say,
Go to your dad and ask for a bike,
So you can go the zooming way,
Well I go up to him, when he's drinking his gin,
To see whether he'll agree,
At first he shakes his head but then he nods instead,
And says ‘Well if you get a first degree'

And then in the spring time,
Or in the winter snows,
When I get tired and sick of the noisy people,
I'll take out my bike, sit on it, and away I'll go.
