The Crows Poem by Palitha Ranatunge

The Crows

Rating: 5.0

Cry aloud, with their shrieking voices
Jarring the morning air, invited by
A maid who feared the God Senasuru
Since he has cursed upon her
To get his crew of crows fed,

The squirrel mother hides her little ones
In the branches of a neighboring tree.
Fear of killers clouded the morning light
With their doomed black fury,

The other colored bird, a Koha
Prevents singing of her arcadian
Morning melodies fearing the
Rioters, rioting for bread crumbs
Fallen one by one from the
God fearing dame, praying for
an evasion and salvation from
Senasuru maha dasava,

Having no depth in mind, the one
Who advised the poor dame?
To feed the children of the Nature
Only misbalancing their food cycles
Is a true enemy of Mother Nature.

(God Senasuru - He is called god of Saturn as well.)

(Senasuru Maha Dasava - If Saturn is well placed, it brings honour, authority and prosperity. In case it is afflicted, the time period brings major difficulties, calamities, sorrows and fraustrations.)

(Koha - is an Indian plaintive cuckoo who sings beautifully.)
