The Comments Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

The Comments

The Comments

To know your location,
Journalists, and neighbours
Best is to read comments.

If news is local,
Either worth or a junk,
Audience may read, write.

When talk is of life, death,
That section is virgin.

Let us see Canada
If comments remain white
Talk is of the race or, Asia, Africa.

Here, we do not ask,
Or know not, or care less,
Of the harms to homeless,
Or how our sold cars, guns
Go to kill, injure, mime,
Or even Reserves of Indians.

Journalist, sit and write
Fill pages, left and right
But readers do not want,
So, comments stay white.

Wonder if are afraid?
Or dislike, do not care?

I believe best to learn
The city and people
Is reading the comments!

They speak of readers
To our right, above, left
As well as those under…

I always read comments
Then headlines, or titles
Articles come, at end!
