The Colourful Plume Poem by Kingsley Egbukole

The Colourful Plume

The plume
The colourful plume
Soft to touch
Scented to smell Is the colourful plume

The plume in contention
The colourful plume
The soft and scented
Between the lion and the tiger
Each with a claim
With good evidences to prove
Though trivial to note
And grossly misrepresented

The lion charges
The tiger charges
Inn fierce confrontation
For the plume in contention
The colourful plume
Soft and scented

But who has seen?
The lion with a plume but hairs
Who has seen?
The tiger with a plume but spots
Yet they must fight
For what belongs to neither

The tiny little bird
Inconsequential
To the prominent features and strength
Of the lion and tiger
Sat quietly by and watched
His colourful plume
Soft and scented
Been torn by greed

And what can it do?
But watch and wait
And wait and pray
For timely divine intervention.
