The Color Of Bravery Poem by D.N. Rebb

The Color Of Bravery

Rating: 5.0

The sand is grey
Children at play
Beautiful castles
Everyone applauses

The little boy sits all alone
The next chapter, no one could have known
An older boy just takes over
The bucket n' shovel, now a new owner
The punk's friends just laugh
But no one steps in on the little boy's behalf
As they, neither want to be preyed
So they all disregard, as they're just afraid

The bullies win
All yellow within
The bullies win
All yellow within

The music is nice
College girls dance
Too many drinks
Then someone winks

She goes outside for some fresh air
The next chapter shouldn't really be shared
But the burly biker follows her
It happens so fast, a mere blur
The thug's friends just laugh
But no one steps in on the poor girl's behalf
As that delinquent gang towers over them
So they turn their backs, yet feel so numb

The bullies win
All yellow within
The bullies win
All yellow within

A new restaurant
Meals from the heart
Reservations galore
More wait by the door

Just a family man with mama's recipes
Never dreamt the mob of being his enemy
Security payment is due this week
Former owners had already turned the other cheek
The mafia's too big to unravel from
They have every local diner under their thumb
So they all pay their exact dues
As they're too afraid of the possible abuse

The bullies win
All yellow within
The bullies win
All yellow within

A small country
Distinct, frankly
Happy masses
Peaceful dances

They still don't know what went wrong
Why this larger country wanted them dethroned
They claimed it was always their land
And told the rest of the world to not give a damn
Speculated they had the meanest army
The rest of the world said ‘just don't harm me'
So we all watch in disbelief
With WWIII as the threatening motif

Why do the bullies always win?
Why are we always so yellow within?
As the bullies continue their arrogant deliveries,
A need exists to unearth the true color of bravery

They win because they are allowed to and many times it is almost impossible to stop them. Bullies only start up when they are sure they have the advantage. The odds are always in their favour.
