Not a very apt account, nonetheless there's an inherent sweetness in this short piece that attracts the attention.

I get the feeling, from his writing, that Hughes loved the city. This is one of his most poignant works, but again, short and to-the-point. Two stanzas and he made you feel how much he loved the city life. I wish I had a quarter of his talent.
