The Chronicles Of Tech-Savvy Seniors Poem by Lewis Dever

The Chronicles Of Tech-Savvy Seniors

In a little town where time forgot,
Lived some seniors who thought, 'Why not?
Let's master this tech, these gadgets and gizmos,
We'll be TikTok stars in their dance videos! '

There was Grandpa Joe with his thick, thick glasses,
Trying to FaceTime through Zoom for his classes.
He squinted and squirmed, then he let out a cry:
'Why's my screen showing only my eye? '

Grandma Sue, with her spunky flare,
Decided she'd try to conquer software.
She downloaded something called 'Snapchat' one night,
But her face filters gave the dog quite a fright.

She turned herself into a cat with a hat,
Then a broccoli stalk, and a thundering bat.
When she tried to send it to her cousin Lou,
She emailed the plumber by accident too!

Old Bert decided it was finally time,
To buy Bitcoin or something online.
He clicked on an ad that promised big bucks,
But all that he got were endless pop-up trucks.

He yelled at the screen, 'How do I make it stop? ! '
But his phone just said, 'Please insert a mop.'
Now he's banned from eBay for reasons unclear,
They say he bid on a spaceship, a goat, and some beer.

The senior centre was filled with tech woes,
As gadgets misbehaved and emojis froze.
Ethel was tweeting from her antique clock,
Thinking it was a tablet she found on a walk.

When she finally realized, she gave it a smack,
Then Googled how to give her Nokia a hack.
She turned on location and posted her route,
So now she's followed by a fan club of trout.

Mildred tried her hand at online romance,
But got tangled up in a VR dance.
She swiped left and right, then fell off her chair,
Ending up in a Zoom with a panda bear.

Old Frank got hooked on an app to keep fit,
But his step counter thought he was stuck in a pit.
Each time he shuffled, it logged thirty miles,
His Fitbit said, 'You've walked through the isles! '

Then came the day of the big tech fair,
Where seniors and smartphones gathered with flair.
They lined up for lessons on Wi-Fi and more,
From a twelve-year-old whiz who they all did adore.

He taught them to text, to tweet, and to stream,
To set up reminders and join a live meme.
He showed them the magic of Bluetooth and cloud,
And how to play games that would make them all proud.

Now they're TikTok influencers, famous and bold,
With followers young, and followers old.
Their dances go viral, their selfies are chic,
And Grandma Sue's now a Snapchat mystique.

So here's to the seniors who won't be outdone,
Who laugh at their missteps and still have some fun.
For though they might struggle with tech and its glitches,
They've proven that life's not just for the riches.

With their spirits unbroken and humour in tow,
They've mastered the screens and the emojis that glow.
So next time your grandma asks, 'How do I tweet? '
Remember, she's learning—and that's no small feat!
