The Chosen, As Seen Through Mary's Eyes! Poem by Denis Martindale

The Chosen, As Seen Through Mary's Eyes!

The chosen suffered at their hands when blindness stole their love,
Yet they fulfilled the Father's plans when they raised Christ above.
Then Mother Mary looked to Christ, the firstborn of her womb,
Right there, despised and sacrificed yet not laid in His tomb!

She witnessed nails as they got pressed to fix Him to His cross,
Not knowing that He passed each test, enduring such a loss.
And hoisted high, He kept His place for God and Man to see!
Achieving God's amazing grace right there on Calvary!

The seconds trickled slowly by from nine to three that day,
Enough to make each grown man cry as Christ's blood slipped away.
But Mary heard the mockers, too, as God let Jesus die,
Yet what on Earth could Mary do beyond her tears to cry?

The hours clawed away His strength, and yet His faith endured,
Though pains still racked His body's length as even more blood poured.
'How long, dear Lord? ' she must have prayed! 'How long before His death?
And why, dear Lord, have You delayed my good son's final breath? '

'Have mercy, please! ' she must have said. 'Lord, grant my son release! '
Six hours done! Her son was dead! But sorrows did not cease.
Her precious son was on the ground, to lie there lifeless still.
Some in the crowd then turned around and walked down from that hill.

Their blindness stole compassion's love as Mary wiped her tears!
The Gospel story tells enough to span ten thousand years!
John led her gently homeward bound, her only friend that day,
Still seeking faith that must be found, with all sins washed away.

We see the Saviour we adore who died for you and me.
Through Mary's eyes, we see much more than Christ on Calvary.
By faith, believers got baptised as Christians, young and old!
The Gospel tells of Jesus Christ! The greatest story ever told!

This Gospel poem refers to The Chosen TV series,
and the filming of the dramatic Easter scenes with
Jesus on the Cross of Christ. They went beyond the
sculptures, Scripture paintings and stained-glass
windows seen in Churches.

Easter tells us of remembrance and resurrection.
The greatest story ever told, yet shared here, at its best.
