Self debasing. Yet, this is intended and that makes The children an interesting 'read'. A man who has come to grips with those 'demons'. Sometimes attached too long to our childhood ambitions, perhaps. And finding disappointment in adulthood. Emotional confessions aren't easy to expose. And this one is very well depicted as written.
