'The Case Of The Nylon Sock's Disappearing'

-- Frank Yue

The case of the nylon sock's disappearing
Inside the hot dryer, l'm now demystifying.
This grand illusion a la Houdini
Is repeated in many homes weekly.
With the dryer's constant rolling,
To other clothing nylon socks and underwear will be sticking!

Due to heat and motion, static electricity is born,
For all the nylon wares
This is an adhesive strong.
They just cling themselves to the insides
Of polyester T-shirts and the like unseen.
You can't find them since they hide, are light and thin!

That's why your missing odd nylon sock
May one day re-appear, giving you a mini-shock,
When you're putting on a fresh T-shirt.
The static electricity attraction
Has long lost its power of adhesion.
Voila! Congratulations to a happy reunion!
