The Cartoons Poem by Ray Hansell

The Cartoons

Rating: 5.0

In most jobs it's clear to see
If you don't produce
You'll be out of a job
As they will quickly cut you loose

Not so with politicians
It seems the less they do
They somehow retain their office
With the rhetoric that they spew

I just don't understand
Why people keep voting them in
When you review their records
Most of them are a has been

They are so out of touch
With the society of today
So many people seem to ignore
All the things they say

I don't care what the party is
They claim to be in
No matter how you look at it
We the people just can't win

I know it will not change
It's been like this for years
If they were all to leave office
You'd hear a great big cheer

You see, when I look back
Over the last forty years
They've done nothing for me
That is so very clear

I don't need anyone
To tell me how to think
Their thinking to me anyway
Is so far out of sync

But I don't see it changing
Anytime real soon
We're the puppets on a string
While they are the cartoons
