Hi Mary Your poem THE CAGE OF THE WORLD BROKEN is open to two interpretations: in one the bird is a real bird and the world is its and ours place of being. So the bird lives and dies as all worldly things do. In the second interpretation the bird is a symbol of the human soul and the poem shows that death releases the soul so that it can live in total freedom beyond the world. Right now, I am responding to the first interpretation, but there will times when I re-read your poem for the comfort provided by the second one. I had a wonderful canary I named TWEEL who lived a happy and full life but died naturally after seven years - a canary's natural span. I wrote the poem TWEEL'S PARTING SONG as a homage to him and a celebration of our time together. it's posted on my Poems Page. I trust you will appreciate it. Regards from Minnesota.
yes, we can be friends, why not? A very good poem, thank you for sharing.
that shows the way of the world and very much is said with the imagery of the bird...beautiful poem
