The Boyfriend Thief Poem by Paula Glynn

The Boyfriend Thief

Like the dream thief, the boyfriend thief
Believes she has the right to steal your boyfriend
She flirts with him yet retains her poker face
She believes she has the right to take your place
She believes you she has the right to replace.

She even believes she's better looking
But in reality she's in your oven cooking
Believing she's better than you in every way
But she will ultimately pay
The price too expensive leaving her in debt to you.

She's a black widow spider: not simply boyfriend thief
And - boy - does she give you grief
She lies, tricks and plays mind games
And it was only recently that you learnt her name
Your boyfriend begging you for forgiveness.

Your boyfriend yours: not hers
For it is you your boyfriend ultimately prefers
She'll give him back like she should:
Because she's useless for him and no good
And you've made this understood.
