The Bonny Thief! ! ! ! (Pica Pica) The Magpie Poem by john (called jack) wren

The Bonny Thief! ! ! ! (Pica Pica) The Magpie

Rating: 4.0

Beware of this bird who peeps through leaf
he's a restless soul and full of mischief
a handsome charmer a real ladies man
blessed with keeping things spick and span.

A collector of anything that gives off a shine
sparkling silver or jewellery's front line
so place all that glitters out of his sight
then you can sleep in contentment at night.

His bounty is varied and he'll take a chance
to steal anything to start a romance
this delightful delinquent this romantic rouge
is suitably dressed to be in vogue.

But I believe, he can't be that bad
perched in that tree, he's a Bonny Lad

Another good poem. I've often wondered why some birds' Latin names repeat. Another one is the Thrush (Turdus Turdus)
