The Bones Of A Poem Poem by Gordon R Menzies

The Bones Of A Poem

The imperceptible impact of heartsong unheard
the quivering of kindred atoms at a distance,
mourning their separation…calling in voices
whose grey and dusty words cannot be scribed
It shakes the skin like a drum beat, heats the blood
to a red river raging, bursting its banks with passion
and flooding the plains with memory.I splash about,
looking down at reflected faces, suddenly shattered
with tears unnumbered. This, this is the bones of a poem.
