The plush green of summer
fades slowly to a blush of autumn
All summer long lushness exuded beauty
aided by abundant, refreshing rainfall
Verdant emerald displayed at its best
But alas, summer has yielded
yielded into early autumn
Vibrant greens are tinged with autumnal tones
first blushes of reds, yellows and gold
Canada's maples, full with supple foliage
shortly will sport a scene of flaming fire
Sumacs already display deep orange leaves
with clustered plumes of orange-red berries
Fields of faded dried corn cob stalks
await to be churned to nutrify the soil
Tall grasses have already lost their fullness
weakened to a drooping clump of spent vigor
Apple trees of all varieties at their peak
a bountiful harvest and choice of which to eat
Each day tones deepen into autumn palette
The blush of autumn is fading fast
Those subtle first tints deepening
Deepening towards autumn's blaze of glory
