The Blues Isn't New To Me Poem by Aubrey E Drummond

The Blues Isn't New To Me

No
I ain't mad
Just sad
The blues
Isn't new to me

It's been long since
I felt this blue
The blues
Isn't new to me

I held you tight
In my arms
Told you
how much I love
you so

Said:

"Baby please,
Don't die on me,
Bady, please
Don't you
go

Baby please, Can't
You see
You got so much more
To live for

The cat
The dog
And me"

That's when you smiled
And squeezed my hand
Signaled everything would
be fine

then they came and
Wheeled you away
Into a recovery room
They said

The next time I
Saw you
It was under a sheet
spoiled red

as red
as the color of
the wine
you drink

I held
Your hand
Your
Whole body too
Until I felt your heat
Turned stone cold
Blue

And yeah,
I should be mad
But I'm too shocked
And sad

It's been way too long
Since I felt this blue
The blues
Isn't new to me

No, I ain't mad
Just stunned, shocked, and sad
The Blues
Isn't new
to me
