The Big Deal Poem by Ogolla Enock

The Big Deal

Born or dead, that's not a big deal;
These are inevitable and beyond one's control.
But translation or destruction,
a person receives not on the basis
of where and when s/he lived
But based on how and why s/he lived.

When it's said and done,
one is only as worthy
as the what or the who he became
Either a blessing - a well of salvation
or a scar on the conscience of humanity.
This is the big deal.
