So good to hear from you Liza. I recently got back from the hospital and while I was there, one of the nurses tending to me had an accent. I asked where she was from and she said Russia! I told her about us being friends on PoemHunter and we had a very nice conversation about poetry and the fact that we were computer pals. Hope all has been well with you. I am now O.K. and trying to do the things I am supposed to do; like get more exercise. Everything else for my well being I am doing already. Stay well Liza

How wonderful to hear from one who has nurtured a successful marriage for 50 years! I never accomplished that because I didn't want to remarry while my children were small, and by the time they were mostly gone from home on their own enterprises, I had gotten over the idea. I liked having control of my own life by that time. But I have built several very dear friendships which are every bit as mutually comforting and supportive as a good marriage. The saddest thing is, I've watched safe from my singlet perspective as many marriages go bust due to the lack of a real friendship. It became so obvious that some people treat their marriage partner worse than they would treat a friend they valued. It's so sad to watch. Thank you for your comment on my poem The Best Left.
