The Basement Comments

I'm curious: four actors have played Tom Ripley: Alain Delon, Dennis Hopper, John Malkovitch, Matt Damon. Which one did you see? Personally, I thought Matt Damon was the best... I think these demons are pathetic. They are the ones who are really scared, but they are manipulating the speaker. The key line for me is when they PLEAD with her to stay with them. They must need her ABOVE WORLD qualities to make up for their deficiencies. And they succeed in capturing her because she surrenders to them, instead of resisting further. If only she had held out longer, she might have escaped their grip. I have to check A WHISPER OF CHANGE now.
