The Awakening Poem by Gary James Smith

The Awakening

Rating: 5.0

The Awakening

The awakening of a soul
To a Light it never knew
To a love so incomprehensible
To a Saviour in full view
Disfigured and abandoned
Twas love that held Him fast
To the cruel cross of Calvary
For sin present, and future, and past

The Word become flesh Hallelujah
My God for sin did atone
And though our sin placed Him there
He never left us alone
For by His Word conviction
Comes to the erring one
Upon repentance and faith in Him
We come to know the Son

He the Light of the world
Bids darkness to dispel
And gives to us an eternal hope
Delivering us from Hell
I see I finally see
There's Life in the Crucified One
My faith has found it's resting place
In Jesus God's dear Son
