The Attraction Poem by Ruta Mohapatra

The Attraction

Rating: 5.0

What had attracted him
Were her hauntingly beautiful eyes
Not the shape or the color
For they were quite ordinary
But the expression

The innocence, the softness
The mystery and the depth of them
As if no evil that she saw
No adversity that she faced
Could ever change those expressions

As if her heart took them in
And the goodness in her
Drowned all that evil
Cleansed them like fire
And threw up pure ashes

He wanted to be reflected forever
On her soul through those eyes
