A mother's love is unexplainable.
The level of yours, I hope, attainable.
I strive to be,
In all ways, like thee.
To borrow from Browning,
Though she may be frowning,
'How do I love thee?
Let me count the ways.'
I love your poet's heart, your love of art,
Your love of all things beautiful.
Carrying on the tradition,
As your daughter, I will be dutiful.
From home-made Raggedy Anns on our beds,
To matching mirrors painted with tole,
Our home was beautifully filled
From our mother's artful soul.
From Windbergh to Remington,
Van Gogh to Monet,
Our lives were enriched
Most every day!
Feeding our mouths, but also our minds,
Safely kept us from falling behind,
From Trixie Belden to Judy Blume,
Quietly reading in our room.
From numerous trips down the Trace of Natchez,
To a loving heart, with love that matches
The warmth of the warmest flame.
I hope my children see in me the same.
Our house was filled with love and laughter
To be remembered ever after.
The laughs we laughed, the lessons learned,
All the hard work for a dollar earned,
Your Christian duties, never spurned.
To provide solely for another
Is the definition of a Mother.
Clearly I see that now,
No more questions, why or how,
The sacrifices for me, my sister and brother.
I know one day you will leave this earth,
Taking with you a piece of my heart.
I'll strive very hard to be a good Mother,
But Mama, you mastered the art!
Whistel Gal - for her Mama!

Such a beautiful tribute to a beautiful red bird. Yes, the fear of impermanence lies like a shadow behind every child's love for its mother. I remember as a wee girl feeling the agonizing terror of 'what would happen if my mother died....' It still gives me goosebumps. When she finally did die, she looked very small - almost like a child. love, Allie ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
What lovely tribute, Scarlett, I am sure, is well blessed with such a sweet a child. God Bless, Debora

A Wonderful tribute to a wonderful woman. I really enjoyed reading this. I sought my soul But my soul I could not see. I sought my God But my God eluded me. I sought my mother And there i found all three I constantly worry about my mother as she gets older Everyday and wonder what i would do without her, I refuse to even think about it. A really great write with a lot of passion and love. Im sure shes very proud of you. Regards xx
