The Arrival Poem by Benjamin Chiu Uy

The Arrival

The Arrival

As I watched and watched, sun and rain,
And the sky that grants, and denies,

Those gifts, one wish rewarded,
Sometimes wishing forever,

Kind, merciful, harsh, uncompromising,
As one day, other days proceeded,

Into eons of wants that my heart wished upon a star, on cloistered rooms,

In church sanctuary,
Hoping, dreaming one day if ever that day arrives,

That everything and anything,
Creation, man and nature,

One toss of a magic coin,
Into the delusional fountain of life,

Foolish as the fool on the hill,
