One fine morning
I went to a fish store
And bought tropical fishes
In their brightest striking hues

Just like you, occasionally I too feel sorry for their confinement, but letting them out, is something I can't think. No need of being wacked by guilt... Rose Marie! I am sure you offer them the best care and ambiance....! I feel that we think in parallel lines and our tastes are almost the same! A 10 for this visual beauty!
I can so well relate to your feelings! I too keep an aquarium in the living room with colorful fishes. I am never tired of watching them swimming in the water and occasionally hiding in the hollows of shells and fossils kept inside the glass tank. Your description is arresting!
Many people like aquarium to look at its beautiful fishes with different colors and movings. You have astutely inscribed as follows....... The elegant sway of their bodies As they swim swiftly And synchronously Brings fun and happiness As if I am traveling In the majestic seas. But it is sad that they are kept in captivity. Your feeling has been well expressed. Beautiful poem.
This poem shows the conundrum sensitive folk have in imprisoning creatures from nature. Well written and executed.+++10
A wonderful comment and.insight, Robert. Thank you for all the comments you made on my poems..
I too have a small aquarium in my living room with colorful fishes and two suckers, a kind of scavenger fish to clean up the dirt and moss! I am never tired of watching them at any length.....! Though they seem happy inside a rectangular glass box, often I too am plagued by the same annoying thoughts that they are kept in captivity! So I can very well relate to your feeling!
A wonderful comment, Valsa..Thank you for the visit and time.
Yet I am wracked by guilt Of robbing their precious home And abusing their treasured freedom......Touching lines of a lovely poem.
I have the same opinion with Sylvia! This is a magnificent poem! I like the last four lines most!
I loved the thought behind the poem. This again showcases your sensitive soul
And now Iam having......ha ha. i think Iam refers to a brand of dog food, or almost does. So, which of the two 'opposing views' has won? or are you still wracked? ? ? to MyPoemList! vey nice! [ [a secret; although i often profit from reading responses poets leave to other commenters on poems, i almost NEVER return to a poem, and when i DO, it is not to look for responses. ;) ] ] bri ;)
Thank you so much, Bri. You made my day with your funniest comment. Thank you for proofreading my poem again. Glad you liked the poem.
Part THREE: At the time you bought the fishes their freedom was already robbed and abused by the shop store owner. He caught them to be sold. So please enjoy the beautiful glistening tropical fishes, such a true delight to watch them. Thank you for sharing this magnificent poem, Due to your fantastic poem, I can still see the elegant sway of their bodies....
What a lovely comment, Sylvia. Thank you, thank you for your generous comments.
Part TWO: The human brain is often tormented by the shadows of his conscience. Being happy is also a choice, so away with the bad thoughts, please enjoy these beautiful tropical fishes in this fantastic poem. The human brain is often tormented by the shadows of his conscience. Being happy is also a choice, so away with that bad conscience! You deserve that enjoyment! A 10 and much much more for tge Vote.
A beautiful and pragmatic advice, Sylvia. I am honored and feel humbled of all your great comments. Thank you so much and God bless always.
Part ONE: It's a true fascinating sight of those lovely tropical fishes. Without the moon shining, the tropical fishes glisten though, I reckon. We are happy watching these fishes, but human beings have conscience, then, one moment this conscience makes us suffer because we start to think of the reverse.....
Your observation is fantastic, Sylvia. So true. Thank you.
Beautiful poem. Aquarium full with fishes looks so mesmerizing. We had it once and loved it. What made me sad was when fishes start to die. The guilt that we did something wrong to hasten their death was that we could not get rid of. And you are right about freedom part. This always stings. Thank you for sharing your poem. Took me ages back in time.
A fascinating comment and insight, Savita. Thank you so much for the visit.
It is a soothing pleasure to watch fish swimming; and myself too, wondered, whether they are happy in an aquarium. Loved the rhythm of the poem.
A beautiful poem full of hidden meanings and metaphor enjoyed 10++
In all respects it exhibits all the good textures of a good poetry touching both sides of heart as the pure and placid expression of the human soul........Rose Marie.......very well crafted........10+++++++
