The Amir's Death Poem by Victor Okechukwu Anyaegbuna

The Amir's Death

I did not pray for him to die
but providence fought my battles
e'en as I toddled virtually helpless,
pinned to the heap of moist red earth
that straddled six feet of void
in my unpronounced innocence.

Earth with its countless particles;
Myriads that glister unseen in the spectrum
but light the path for minute creatures
to thrive in its loathsome bowels
and eek out awesome living void of graft and envy,
visible collaborative efforts,
that cosmic waves primed and sustained.

Yet in itself milked power from Nature's nipples,
to conquer essence in all ether
like spirit mellows the arrogance of the liver
and fearlessly executes nemesis
for violators who dare her decrees
