The Amazing Dholes

the poet in me.can't.keep quiet
this is.a feast with a king-like-diet
pack of eight.dholes and four cubs
in dire need of a sustaining grub
hits jackpot in an adult sambar
in the wild, to kill.for food- who can bar?
the mismatched.female sambar
gets deathly cuts from the canine molars
the deer can't counter the attacking dogs;
felled down and soon resembles a wood log
the community feast begins there and then
dholes are excused from saying their Amens
every dog gets.bellyful, its due
even.the cubs have morsels few
as meal ends, a part of deer's.skeleton
and its inedible hide, remain uneaten
the dogs quench their thirst from the lake
and proceed to their siesta to take
amazing to watch their gusto as they eat
molars go chuk-chuk-chuk with tender meat
this killing and eating has a cause
these dholes deserve our applause
a dog-eats-dog world is where they live
fending for oneself, it is tough to thrive
dhole is.an endangered species
in their.fight, one and all they can't please
