The Agony Of Love Comments

In this quatrain three nouns proceed from the first in the series, namely love; they are decision, defeat, pain. They could describe an agon or conflict, for example, a man falls in love, it is his decision to pursue happiness with a certain woman, but she rejects him and this defeat of his decision to love causes him acute pain. OR a man has a Strangelove for power and he decides to lead a coup against what appears to be a weak governing body, but their forces prove to be tougher than expected: his rebellion is defeated and he is painfully tortured to death by the ones he expected to easily dispose of. And so it goes that just five words can describe a variety of lives and destinies.
