The African Madonna Poem by DM W

The African Madonna

The African Madonna:
A compassionate mother;
Tends to her silent son:
He who is slowly dying
With washed out ribs
And blown out belly.
She combs the boy's hair
So softly it is as though
She is putting flowers
On a tiny grave.
