The Affects Of J Poem by Abigail Hauschild

The Affects Of J

I know by all the little things
The things so mundane most people don’t notice
I know by the metaphors
How a laugh turns into a firework
And tapping fingers turn into butterfly wings
I know by the silence
And the volumes spoken between breaths
I know by the consistency
As solid as a statue that stood the test of time
I know by the gravity
The constant force pulling me in your direction
I know by the ache
How every step away from you feels like a blow to my soul
I know by the warmth
The bonfire that lights in my chest when I catch your eye
This thing that I know beyond a shadow of a doubt?
That I Love You
