Mj, precisely so. Human beings may have run out of time as far as mistreating their home otherwise called planet Earth- so it may be time to get themselves ready ro meet their maker

I had to revisit this great work, Susan. There's something here that resonates with what's going on these days. Every day seems to be one in which we wake up with the possibility (need! ?) of renewal. So many things are going on, each or any morning might be the " time to forge better paths."

I love this superb poem about being grateful for the blessings in our lives and not to let our inner voice destroy our joy by worrying over the past, worrying over the future but to have faith and rejoice and find our inner child and release the spirit of love and freedom of expression!

An insightful depiction of autosuggestion which one deploys in order to affirm the individual's faith, as the person earnestly resolves to sustain resolutions in a new year. Poignant work of an intricate mind. Lovely indeed, Susan. Thanks for sharing and stay blessed.

Perhaps if we are on a revolving tilt-a-wheel always reliving the bad things, we can mentally throw those bad things off the bus and take aboard and keep aboard good thoughts, forgiveness both of self and others and get on with living in the present. Thank you for reading and understanding. You stay blessed as well, Chinedu! !

A brilliant poem on faith expecting the new year to be prosperous. The first day of the new year is the time to weed out the hurtful feelings and darkness from the mental garden and to build a better sanctuary for love. Our soul mustn't fear the hungry and cruel wolves encircling to us. Beautifully crafted Thanks a lot.

An impressive write that resonates to the soul within. What better New Year wish could there be? Self renewal and faith coupled with trying not to think about things beyond our control or what we fear and just be glad to be here.

An excellent write to start a new year. Wonderfully written. Well-conceived. I love the clarity of vision. And the fact it teaches a lesson in a subtle way rather than drumming it into you makes it all the more worth-reading. A super 10.

Exactly. Philosophy, wisdom, instructional- -whatever it may be categorized as- -It is the most difficult poem for me to write. I do not want to sound like I'm preaching.... I hate getting lectured if I'm not in the classroom. So I thank you from the bottom of my heart for saying I used a light touch when writing this. That relieves my mind and thank you for the 10! ! ! ! !

Who Wrote This? ? ! ! ! I found this notification e-mailed to me.I clicked on the link and followed the yellow brick road but there was no comment matching this sweet comment. So I posted this question last night on my poem's page. I just got on and found that my question had disappeared. I am not fond of being messed with. But I do want the author of this comment to contact me or re-post it. Thank you. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ You have a new comment about your poem: The Adventure Of The First Day Of The New Year - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Susan, I found this piece at just the right moment. I breathed it in like the fragrance of divine wisdom it is. Every line seems to be speaking exactly to a point in my heart that needs to hear what you have so luminously captured in this beautiful piece. To be quiet to set down fear and stress to choose better paths to give and to forgive to walk in grace and leave the past behind. Such powerful wisdom, and so necessary for this year. Thank you again, Susan. I will be coming back to this one again and again.

I am glad you stumbled across a comment of mine and decided to come take a look at my poems. You will find a mixed bag... my faith underlies many of my poems but I do not often use faith as a topic. I too read the Bible daily- I have to! ! I am involved in 2 Bible Studies at church, one is a two-year tour through the Bible and the other is a 7 week study of Mark to be followed by another 8 or 9 week study of another topic. A very kind benediction there, Glen- - May love fill, surround, and guide you too! ! !

Susan, This is a fantastic poem. You actually say so much about human nature. I find that for most of the time, most of the people are nostalgic. Yet for some reason, and for all too brief a time, we tend to slip out of that frame of mind with the new year. Perhaps because that year is new? At that time we look to the future, the what is possible, and tell ourselves that obstacles and barriers need to be reconciled to the past. Maybe we should change our frame of mind to make this the common way of thinking...your poem suggests we have the courage...time to build that better sanctuary. A 10 for sure.

I look forward to reading your comments! You really delve into what a poem is saying [or trying to say] and this has always helped me to write better, write deeper, and seek a stronger connection with the reader through the selection of words. Thank you for the encouragement

I can only echo Valsa's marvellous comments. One of Isa's school-friends said the same thing and it is wonderful advice which you have set in a great poem. It's going into my favourites' list.
