The Advaita Vedantins,
or just Advaitins
or Mayavaadis,
seek spiritual liberation
through acquiring vidyā,
meaning knowledge,
of one's true identity
as Atman, and the identity
of Atman and Brahman.
(Ref. spiritual books of the World Religions)
As I understand, advaita is absence of dvaita, the duality. You as atman, and He as Brahman (whose spark art thou) are one and the same. Also, you and the millions of others too are the same. There is no difference. tat tvam asi, thou are That. aham brahmaasi, I am the Brahman, the Vedic mahaa-vaakyas, highlight this truth. .

Here, Tony, I think of different understandings of knowledge, what it is to know. To know, in the Hebrew of the Jewish Bible or Old Testament, is to know totally or intimately; it’s used, for example, of a man knowing a woman in sexual relations. This, of course, is quite different from head or merely intellectual knowledge. Of this kind, as I understand it, Paul says, “Knowledge puffs up, but love builds up.” May love enlighten us. -Glen
