I confess - my disillusionment with the PROCESS of societies, governments, institutions has left me bereft of interest. Since I retired ten years ago, I don't watch TV news or read a newspaper. And I did so with fervor most of my life. I was a confirmed viewer of MacNeil/Lehr News Hour, Bill Moyers's various shows, etc. Now I read the New York Review of Books which has scholarly articles but no hype, no partisanship, no dailliness of news. I found myself falling into a funk over things, people and events I obsessed over without any chance of influencing. So I agreed with the gist of THE ACTUAL ARENA but did not share the ENERGY of your polemic. But society needs the energy you display to survive! (I like the line - WE NEED A HAMMER AND NOT A TUNING FORK.)
