A very impressive poem brilliantly depicting the effects of addiction. Yes, addiction is like a quicksand that pulls you down to the deepest and darkest bottom. I concur with Poetess.Harley White, this great poem is always timely and powerful.

It's really a commendable work bringing out and presenting to the readers the evil impact of drug addiction that pulls down the users to deeper and deeper zones of ruins

I haven't read a poem- or an article to be precise- that tells the sad journey towards ruin of a drug addict this descriptive and realistic. You create a haunting visual through your words. Marvelous write. Full rating

By recounting the story of an individual, the poem significantly points to the sad plights of drug addicts. Life is never the same agin. Chinedu, dear Poet, five stars is nothing for this magnificent poem. It deserves world wide reading, appreciation and applause.

He falls in love with the narcotic. And begins to relish its sweet fruition, in a seemly pattern of use put in the shade by his best interests. When the drug user begins to enjoy the illusory state of the fanciful mind, he is totally unaware that he has become a slave of the dreadful drugs.

Dear Poet Chinedu, I wonder, how i missed this poignant and so relevant to modern times poem. As always, you have done thorough research on the subject and have given an in-depth and detailed study of drug usage and the after effects of its addiction. I do not think anyone could write in a more explicit or powerful way than this about drug addiction.

'All alone with the merciless companion, Nowhere to go and no one to turn to' captures the essence of this masterpiece. The ills of drug or substance abuse is even worse than cancer. A prison once one finds himself caught in this web. Wonderful piece Chinedu

O my God! This is immensely pleasurable. I can't remember the last time I rated a poem on this platform but I just did here. Every stanza and bit of this poem is coated in some poetic savoury. Chinedu, your literary endeavour is way farther than we can perceive. Bravo, poet.
