That Was Too Much Comments

Rating: 5.0

I spent yesterday weeping.
I have not cried very often in my life.
I did yesterday...
Watching our terrified children run from a school building that had been splattered with blood and fear and bodies- -

Made a revisit today. The agony is repeating itself. I feel that in a developed, responsible and responsive society as that of the US, the system should be able to detect such mental aberrations sufficiently early

A horrifying tale of mass murder of school children told in eloquent finesse. My heart bleeds for them. May their innocent souls find peace in the bosom of our Lord Almighty. A heartrending rendition, Susan.

Hearing a daughter tell her Mother to call the police and tell them to come help the girl somewhere outside her room who was screaming in pain for help and praying to God for help- - that was too much. . So I spent yesterday drenched in tears- - and that was too little.....so touching and sadness. Beautifully inscribed.

A heartrending depiction has been made here in this poem about Yesterday's Massacre of your Children in Florida. I am too very sad for this accident. Thanks for sharing this poem with us.

Very touching and soul-stirring write. Reader can feel your pain. It's the worst tragedy when terrible things happen to children. Everybody deserves peace, children more so.

I agree, Nosheen. Children should be protected, nourished, loved, and treasured in every culture and country. How we set about ensuring this is the defining of our character.

I try to keep away from political poetry but having seen legislature after legislature ignore our children's pleas for change to our gun laws and psychiatry laws, I have to say it is time those legislatures are no longer voted into office. In America, our politicians are supposed to do the will of the citizenry. Sorry for the aside, but I appreciate the time you took to read this and comment on it, Rini!

If reading this poem makes one person eschew violence, the mission of Susan Williams is successful. A pensive 100 and onto my poem list.

Hi Susie, Very emotional write. Our tears have little value, when the victims of violence are tiny innocent children. The world is going through unparalleled violence on innocent people, be it the school children in the US, little tribal girl raped and murdered in Kashmir, India, or those abducted by Boke Haram in Africa, or the victims of shelling in Syria, Palestine. We are going through horrible times. And this poem! If it could make one person eschew a violent path!

You are so right- -the world is drowning in blood, much of which is innocent blood. I fear that nothing is going to put a stop to violence as the first choice among governments and revolutionaries. That is one thing about PoemHunter that might give some element of peace===we exchange ideas and comments from country to country and are finding so many similar viewpoints... sigh... if only our governments could get similarly together with each other

Subhas Chandra Chakra===I so agree with you. How these things can be stopped is going to, I think, take a many pronged approach by things, some of which, may take a lifetume to become effective [such as being kind to our children, and children being kind to children. Thank you for reading this and commenting so wisely.

Seamus O Brian (~~~~ Reply box won't let me comment there so here we are wandering in the wilderness. You are the author of such powerful, insightful, straight-from-the-heart-to-the-soul poet that to hear your comments reference God hearing and responding to the blood shed into the ground - -it stunned me. Your comments always lift me up, always encourage me to strive higher- -thank you beyond any words to explain what YOUR words of commendation mean to the rest of us.
