‘that Was, ' Said The Aged Anchorite Poem by Emmanuel George Cefai

‘that Was, ' Said The Aged Anchorite

‘That was, ' said the aged Anchorite
‘that was of long ago:
When Minerva in splendor came
Here to this cave-hermitage.'

‘I took my pitcher; offered humble wine.

And humble food; and she partook.

Then wisdom spoke, wisdom on wisdom

And she showed me how made be the cumulus of Wisdom.

And how that Cumulus of Wisdom to New Civilization turn.

And New Civilization add to New Civilization'
