That Semicolon; That Was Me Poem by Manabendra Lal Bhuyan

That Semicolon; That Was Me

A semicolon in a code,
that I showed its place.
A semicolon in a text,
that I showed its shape.

A semicolon in a speech,
which gave the meaning space;
a pause to breathe.

A semicolon,
where it was almost the end.
But I said,
'Don't end it here; breathe, then go on.'

A semicolon,
where I broke the continuity.
A semicolon,
I created a conflict in Unity.

A semicolon
that broke things apart.
A semicolon,
that perhaps brought them together.

A semicolon,
that is just a mere formatting.
A semicolon,
that marks an end,
yet is still important in every block.

A semicolon; half-serious, half-sinister.
The butterfly that caused the draft to change direction.

Tiny, harmless (or perhaps not) ,
yet catalytic.

That Semicolon;
that was me.
