The last few poems of yours have seemed as my own; unexpected evidence that, possibly, something matters.

These two opening lines identify a plot situation of the highest interest. Just for you to be able to recognize that dynamic in another person is remarkable. And then to interact with this person is uncanny. Don't try to puzzle out my words - your poem is sufficiently persuasive. William Faulkner said all of his novels were about the human heart on conflict with itself. What makes this conflict so difficult is that it is not good versus evil in which you can dismiss the evil element and focus entirely on the good. It is a choice between two good things and that will leave behind wounded souls, not conquering heroes. Usually you are in the lead almost touching the limits of freedom, here some else is already there. I feel this poem opens up a new dimension of human relations to explore. Lead us there, Leah.
