Happy trails there way out west
heaven not much further
Deep in the heart of Texas
they'll be happy just to serve her
Laughter caught her flashing eye
stary nights set blazing
Flocking children come to fly
where beauty's never fading
I had seen without a glance
Nothing was more pleasing
Night displayed what love forsook
Awake and never dreaming
Onward to her cowboy days
dancing halls and hoe downs
Stetson hats and studded spurs
dusty streets and show downs
Riding at a gallop I thought to mosey by
down a drink and give a hoot
There's mud right in your eye
Dealers at their tables
hoarding all their winnings
quick to draw but none too sly
Life holds new beginnings
The Yellow Rose of Texas
can't hold a candle there
A gal from California brings
to Texas something rare
