Terms Poem by Henrietta Ezegbe

Terms

Nothing is assumed.
Access granted
by duration,
not urgency.

No explaining.
That invites revision.
This is not a draft.

Care offered
without extraction.
Attention given
without collapse.

If I stay,
it costs nothing essential.
If I leave,
nothing follows.

What demands proof
expires.
What endures
remains.

These are not rules.
They hold.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Terms articulates the conditions of presence, care, and proximity. It is a declaration of self-governance, exploring boundaries as structures that hold rather than restrict, and authority as something established through clarity rather than defense. The poem reflects a shift from explanation to alignment, from endurance to discernment, and from reaction to sovereignty.
