Yet tender in the morning light
I see your smiling face
And though no more beside me now
I feel your gentle grace
For as the dawning glow turns bright
I know that you are near
Forever in my memory
Within each falling tear
Each day begins with you, my love
As in my mind you dwell
No-one could ever take your place
Such heartache never quell
You were, still are, the one I love
But now I'm older grown
I wonder if you'd love me still
As I sit here alone
So many days I have lived on
Since you were by my side
So many days of woefulness
Through which I've cried and cried
How many more must I endure
To live through joyless years
Now reaching out to meet the end
To banish all these tears
This life is made for sharing, and
To be alone's not right
So I would seek a welcome soul
To walk with me this night
To walk with me and hold my hand
To find a sweeter place
But yet I deem that such a soul
Could you not e'er replace
So wait for me, yes wait for me
And make the time pass swift
That soon I shall with you abide
A gift, the sweetest gift
