Tell Yourself, 'I Can! ! ' Poem by Rachel Loveday

 
Your Confidence is fading
Your scared and you are shy
You convince yourself that you will fail
Before you've even tried
 
You deny the explorer within you
and stick to what you know
Scared to try the things you'd like
incase a weakness shows
 
At times it seems, you are flying high
with a talent of which your proud
then out of nowhere, someone laughs
and they quickly shoot you down
 
Your oldest 'friend', in who you trust
says 'you'll fail and look a fool'
they tell you this so often
you believe it to be true
 
Who is this person that holds you back
its time to face the truth
This 'friend' that tells you, not to try
is a voice inside of you
 
This voice it can be deafening
But to listen would be wrong
There's a louder voice within you
shouting 'stand up and be strong'
 
Reality brings great people
Just like you and me
They applaud you when you try
And will you, to succeed
 
To accept the things I cannot change 
But change the things I can
God gave you the strength to do this
The strength to know 'I CAN'
