Many people keep bragging of their qualities and accomplishments. This self praise is annoying to the listeners. The wise ones can easily make out what type of a person one really is. Trying to impress them by vain talk won't raise one's status unless one really deserves the qualities highlighted. Blowing one's own trumpet is a despicable quality. It is others who are to rate us seeing our performance. Beautifully condensed in this well written limerick.
You have really put the facts in true perspective, dear poet, thanks for liking it
Well said. this is the ancient wisdom we grew up with. Now a days with changing life style, with TV. Twitter and media bombarding us, it feels that one get only talking points. Louder you are better you can make others believe for Sun to be coming out of West.
Good point, we have too much of yak, yak everywhere. Look at politics, come to working places, why, everywhere. I used to call some of my colleagues as NATO members (No Action, Talk Only) . Thanks

Care not to quote your great qualities— Be thou learned and wise Or if not otherwise, The wise know well enough what truth is, And to fools it is like passing breeze. - - - - A wise thought told in light humour. Your attempt to introduce new variation in limmerick is really wonderful.I like it.
You noticed it right, and seems you have read the notes fully. There are a few on PH already and more are to come. I'd love to have your comments. Thanks indeed. Glad to see you in print again. Your page was not traceable for a while.
I wonder to know that my page was not visible to you.It may be so to many others. I am glad that it is visible now. Thanks for letting me know.
Well, again today, the same thing The message says: 'The page could not be found'. (Report)
a thief screams out he did not steal anything; a plagiarist screams out he is true writer; a swindler politician screams out he is real democratic leader; but; a true one always lives in silent
Yes, indeed and no need to open the mouth, for, people anyway know/find out. Thank you for the feedback.
An excellent poem showing top level skill as a Poet. Thank you for your kind comments.
Brilliant write. A wonderful limerick with insight and wisdom. Liked the two closure lines. A wonderful and serious thought with a tinge of humor. Onto my Poem List. I liked how you modify this poetic form. Great limerick.
I especially welcome your views on the use of this format, dear poet. I see that you have also read the notes.
This is brilliant! This gem goes to myfavourites. You have defined/redefined a poetic form and made a very thought provoking observation....The truly wise demonstrate their qualities by example. Others, they talk....Great verse, Aniruddha!
Thank you so much Mj Lemon for your comments on the use of this format and this experimentation. I think Limericks can be used for a variety of poetic contents, not just humorous.
The wise know well enough what truth is......a brilliant write sir......................................10
Thank you Dr Swain, I'll feel obliged if you give your views on a limerick format in this case.
Revisiting this one of a kind limerick. I concur with the wonderful comments of the great Poetess, Valsa. Our great qualities will speak for themselves. There is no need to brag our assets.
