Teddy's Seatbelt (Oww Not So Tight) Poem by Kewayne Wadley

Teddy's Seatbelt (Oww Not So Tight)

Rating: 5.0

There he sat about on the dusty shelf
Watching the passerby's of what he hoped to be his new home
Much to his dismay
they passed
Either strolling by
or grabbing the next toy that filled their child's heart with delight
Without a mouth to speak teddy just watched as his eyes reflected the cold peppered sprinkled tiles that lay beneath him a few rows down by the balls
across from the bikes
His stitchings were wove by hands that aged gracefully as years later they grew quiet
He wore his cotton stitched sweater with a scarf wrapped around his neck
His eyes sadden over the years as he became reached over
Knocked down
and sat back up
Only to become mixed in with all the other stuffed animals once the store closed
If eyes could speak they wouldn't know where to begin as days turned to years
Just sitting
waiting
A hard cross to bare when everything you want seems to never come
Talk came about from the different coworkers
passing messages saying that a bunch of new toys were coming in
Loads of em' that were guaranteed to improve profit
and of course that meant a raise
But when asked about the old toys the response was that they were to be thrown out in a day or so
Teddy's eyes grew more sadden in fear that he may never find a home reality became harsh
Brittle
until a man pushing his daughter in a wheelchair came walking by
He pushed her down the aisle of toys hoping to brighten her day
when he asked her about this toy or that toy nothing seemed to put a smile on her face until her eyes found teddy leaned up against a stuffed frog
Her father noticed the glee in his daughters eye and grabbed the teddy bear down for his little girl
Soon as it was in her hands it was a perfect match as she pulled him tightly to her chest
Amazement struck Teddy's face as the look in his sadden eyes went away
