Tears Of The Tiger Poem by Dr Vidya Hariharan

Tears Of The Tiger

A world spinning off axis
The sun appears in a mist of dust
One single pearl hibernates
In an ocean full of empty shells
Bedevilled trees with arms raised
Skeletal, towards a barren sky,
The cubs seek a drop of nectar
From a soil less forgiving
Than it was yesterday.
Vast deserts stretch before me
I gazed my fill till my tears dried
And crusted on my lids,
Where, oh where shall I hunt
My end is near for sure.
And thanks to your endless hunger,
Man, the earth sheds endless snow
Which does not melt, collects in heaps
And covers your sins till tomorrow
And tomorrow and tomorrow!
