Teacher's Pet Poem by Kelvin Rush

Teacher's Pet

She was groomed at school she was the teacher's pet
She had no idea she was under threat
She was innocent and sweet clever and bright
But that would all change on that fateful night

He would smile and give her lots of attention
He made her feel special a third dimension
It was a kind of grooming that was hard to detect
Cynical and cunning full of guile and intellect

He sent her a text wanting to meet
She would have to be coy illusive discreet
They met outside Nando's on Friday night
She got into his car it didn't feel right

They drove around the corner to a local hotel
He asked her to promise never to tell
She was given alcohol then sexually abused
She was humiliated manipulated savaged and used

She was dropped off at home he was pleasant and calm
She was distraught and confused irreversible harm
From that point on she became suicidal
Depressed withdrawn unrecognisable

Two months later she left a note
She blamed herself she couldn't cope
No names were mentioned but everyone knew
She was found hung on the 6th of March 2002
