Te`mi´t?´p?´ Poem by Ayokunle Adeleye

Te`mi´t?´p?´

It was just like yesterday
When I came seeing, and met you
Since then when I almost went away
My best neighbour has been you

I had noticed a gen. was on
So I proceeded to find which room it lit
Happy that void the room had not turn
For the impending encounter I summoned wit

At the door I hesitated, then knocked
I was a neighbour-to-be, a stranger
My gun, had I one, I'd have cocked
Since I knew not if you were danger

But open your door came
And introductions were next
I hoped you were lovable and tame
So that by my curiosity you'd not be vexed

For disadvantages I tried to unmask;
Your loyalty I couldn't but task
But like I've learnt since moving in
You'll never turn anyone in

Though you didn't offer your breakfast of rice
You were nonetheless welcoming and nice
To the events of 30/04 am I looking back
Because mine is worth thanks!
